Bulkhead Paneling and Portholes

Sunset at Koganezaki

Have two typhoons to deal with this week. So far none have hit  Izu Peninsula yet but we are getting lot of rain. This morning, I got the papers required for Fujin to begin being berthed in Arari Marina. I'll send those off tomorrow to be signed. The Marina Master asked that we not move the boat into the marina before the 8th of August.

There are four major items that we are working on prior to moving Kaikoma to its new Shimizu berth. After lunch, I had my weekly acupuncture session. It seems to be helping the pain in my shoulders and arm. I'll keep you posted about that.

I got the ok to repair or replace the port windows on the port side of Kaikoma. I will attach some photos below. I called the representative for Beneteau, a French boat builder to ask about replacements for the portholes. There are no replacements but if I send the company some photos, they will determine if they can have plexiglass cut to fit the frames.

We are replacing one of the manually pumped toilets with an electrical system. I have to determine whether to place it in the forward or aft toilet. As the aft head is a bit larger and is more easily used as a shower as well I am thinking that I may select the forward head for that. The idea is to try to separate the electrical system of the new toilet from the shower function for electrical purposes.

I worked on the forward cabin for a few hours this afternoon. I am replacing the full wooden panel with slats going horizontal across the inside of the hull. Some of the wood has rotted from a leak in the porthole on the port side and I am having to remove it from the hull with a chisel. A process that obviously has to be done carefully.
